When we become parents, God places a sharpie in our hands — not a pencil with an eraser, but a permanent marker.
Every word we say, every action we take, every lesson we live out is written on the hearts of our children.
It is a sacred responsibility, one that leaves a lasting impression, for better or worse.
And as life unfolds, we inevitably pass that sharpie to others — coaches, teachers, mentors, friends, even screens.
Some use it to uplift and inspire. Others, unintentionally or not, may scribble messages that don’t belong.
That’s why we must hold the sharpie with intentionality, always aware of what we’re writing and to whom we’re handing it.
This blog is my attempt to gather what I’ve learned — through experience, failure, faith, and grace — into one place.
I’ll focus on one of seven areas that shape the hearts of our children:
Faith. Family. Friends. Finances. Fitness. Fun. Future.
These aren’t just topics — they’re the categories of character, the blueprints of a legacy.
This is a journal for my children to one day read,
and a resource for parents who want to be more intentional in what they’re writing on the hearts of their own.
Welcome to Guard the Sharpie.
Let’s make every mark count.
